Frederick Dawson (Arranger)

Born: July 16, 1868 - Leeds, England
Died: October 23, 1940 - Lymn, Chesire, England

The English pianist and teacher, Frederick Dawson, studied with his father, and later with Hallé and Dannreuther. By age 10 he could play the complete Bach "48" from memory.

After additional guidance from Anton Rubinstein, Frederick Dawson pursued a successful career in his homeland and in Europe. He also taught at the Royal Manchester College of Music (from 1893) and at the Royal College of Music in London. His repertoire was extensive, embracing the early English virginalists through the French Impressionists of his own era. He published the study The Pianoforte (Glasgow, 1922).
