The Swiss pianist and composer, Émile-Robert Blanchet, was the son of a famous organist, Charles Blanchet, who had been a pupil of Ignaz Moscheles and Moritz Hauptmann. Émile Robert studied with his father, then in Cologne and finally in Berlin, with Ferruccio Busoni.
Set in Lausanne, Émile-Robert Blanchet was Professor of piano at the Conservatory (1904-1917) and director of this institution (1905-1908), along with a dedicated career as a concert pianist and composer. He left a considerable amount of works for piano (preludes, studies, etc.), full of intersting rhythmic and contrapuntal writing. |
