Johann Friedrich Baumann was born the son of Johann Georg Baumann (tax collector in Johanngeorgenstadt). He enrolled at the Thomasschule in Leipzig on November 10, 1745; studied there from 1745 to 1752; and at Universität Leipzig from 1751. Although he attended the Thomasschule during J.S. Bach's tenure, it is not known if he actually studied with him. |
