Emanuel Abraham Aguilar (Composer, Arranger)
|
Born: August 23, 1824 - Clapham, Hackney, England
Died: 1904 - London, England |
Emanuel Abraham Aguilar was active as a composer of religious music in the Spanish and Portuguese Jews' Congregation of London, and a concert pianist. He published The ancient melodies of the liturgy of the Spanish and Portuguese Jews (Wessel and Co., 1857). His work as a musician remains overshadowed by the literary successes of his sister, Grace Aguilar (1816-1847), who has been called "the first Anglo-Jewish novelist." |
