History & Mission: |
In order to keep the spirit of the cantatas, this cycle is composed of "spiritual concerts'. Indeed, they include a meditation of a few minutes on the theological topic of the cantata, which is chosen according to the liturgical calendar. These meditations are given by a protestant or catholic theologian, a pastor or a priest.
These professional musicians play for free. They use Baroque instruments. Most of them are former students of Georges Guillard at the Conservatoire Regional of Paris where he was in charge of the early music department. The vocal part is interpreted by a choir that he conducts, the Camerata St Louis of Paris.
The friendly and open spirit of this cycle is shown by the fact that the audience is welcomed to sing the choral along at the end of the piece. Moreover, anyone who can properly sing and can attend a few rehearsal can join for a cantata. |
