History & Mission:

In 2010, at the Würzburg Musikhochschule came together a small group of students, who shared something: The enthusiasm for the music of J.S. Bach and the idea to bring his music toi as mant people as possible. In Advent 2010, the first concert with cantatas took place at the Franziskanerkirche and since then the BKCW has not lost momentum. Already more than 15 concerts at the same location have attracted enthusiasts from Würzburg and the surrounding area. The circle of participants in the choir and orchestra - mostly students from the Hochschule für Musik and the Universität - has since grown steadily.
Always fascinated by J.S. Bach inventiveness that makes each cantata an unforgettable unique. Even with the big world of Bach Cantatas, which comprises more than 200 compositions, the listener never feels something is repeated. Each cantata is palpable, steeped in addition to a variety of compositional ideas, even from a very own musical idea that blurs the boundaries between unreal impression and the human. It is this thought drove the BKCW on to ever more concerts.
The aim of BKCW is to enrich the musical life in Würzburg by performance at a high level.
