History & Mission: |
The Westerkerk Cantatediensten (cantata service in the Westerkerk) is an attractive event, in which the Westerkerkkoor, Bachorkest and soloists perform Bach Cantata or other vocal work.
Westerkerk Cantatediensten is held since 1952. The formula of these services - a combination of prayer, music and a brief reflection by the pastor that matches the subject of the cantata - is as compelling as ever after 50 years.. The leadership of the liturgical cantata services is held by the pastor of Westerkerk Rev. Fokkelien Oosterwijk; musical director is the conductor for Hein Meens. The choir organ is played by Suzanne Veerman. Westerkerk organist Jos van der Kooy plays the large organ during the service. |
