The German bass, Jakob Zscheischler, received his first piano lesson at the age of 6 and enjoyed a deep musical training in the Dresdner Kreuzchor. At the age of 10 he also gained his first stage experience as the 3rd boy in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte (Semperoper Dresden). After his civil service, he studied mathematics with a scholarship from the Evangelischen Studienwerks Villigst and was a member of the Dresdner Kammerchor from 2003 to 2008 under the direction of Hans-Christoph Rademann. He is founding member of the award-winning vocal ensemble Bolongaro Sextett.
Jakob Zscheischler obtained his Diploma in Mathematics from Humboldt University Berlin, Germany (October 2010). In 2014, he obtained his doctorate in the field of climate research. PhD Thesis, Department for Empirical Inference, Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems, Tübingen, Germany, and Department for Biogeochemical Integration, Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry, Jena, Germany (October 2010-June 2014). He was member of the International Max Planck Research School for Global Biogeochemical Cycles (IMPRS-GBGC), Jena, Germany (March-June 2014); Visiting researcher at Anna Michalak's lab in the Department for Global Ecology, Carnegie Institution for Science, Stanford, USA (June-September 2013); made his Postdoc at Department for Biogeochemical Integration, Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry, Jena, Germany (June-December 2014); and Postdoc in the Land-Climate Dynamics group (Professor Sonia Seneviratne), Institute for Atmospheric and Climate Science (IAC), ETH Zürich, Switzerland (since February 2015). Since 2015 he has been working as a climate researcher at ETH Zürich. |
