The Austrian bass, Wilfried Zelinka, studied in Graz with Karl-Ernst Hoffmann. He took a course at Musikdramatische Darstellung, and graduated from the Grazer Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst. In 2002 he was awarded the 3rd prize at the 8th International Mozart Competition in Salzburg; in 2003 he won the Bayreuth Scholarshiop of Wagner Forum Graz.
Wilfried Zelinka has busy concert appearances. Guest performances took him to Augsburg (Monk in Don Carlo), the Vienna Volksoper (Leander in The Love for Three Oranges), and in the 2012-2013 season Staatstheater Darmstadt (Count Rodolfo in La sonnambula , Narbal in Les Troyens). He is a member of the Graz Opera, where he has appeared in countless performances of such roles as Bartolo in Le nozze di Figaro, Masetto in Don Giovanni, Publius in La clemenza di Tito, Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte, Rocco in Fidelio, Kuno in Der Freischütz, Baculus in Der Wildschütz, van Bett in Zar und Zimmermann, Herr Reich in Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor, Raimondo in Lucia di Lammermoor, Giorgio Talbot in Maria Stuarda, Sparafucile in Rigoletto, Méphistophélès in Faust, Escamillo in Carmen, Veit Pogner in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Colline in La Bohème, Doktor in Wozzeck, animal trainer and athlete in Lulu, Trulove in The Rake’s Progress, Frank in Die Fledermaus, Dulcamara in L’elisir d’amore, Pistola in Falstaff), Geronte di Ravoir and Sergeant in Manon Lescaut. In the current season (2013-2014) he will be once again seen in stage as Sarastro and Colline and as Balthazar in La favorite.
An active concert career has taken Wilfried Zelinka to numerous festivals such as the
