The German tenor, Stephan Zelck, studied singing at the Hamburg’s Hochschule für Musik und Theater with James Wagner. In 1999 he received the 1st Prize for singing at the "Elise Meyer" competition. In the same year he made also his diploma as music teacher, finishing his studies with honour.
Already during his studies Stephan Zelck participated in various opera productions, including as Tamino in Mozart’s Zauberflöte, as Gabriel von Eisenstein in Strauss' Fledermaus, Candide in the opera of the same name by Bernstein and Baron Krontal in Wildschütz by Lortzing, as well as Belmonte in Mozart’s Entführung aus dem Serail.
Latter roles of Stephan Zelck included guest performance in summer Sommer 2000 at Teatro Castro Alves in Salvador (Brazil), as Titus in the Mozart’s' opera of the same name. Lately he sang in another Mozart’s opera Il re Pastore in the summer project 2000 of the State Theatre in Prague, where he had already sung Alessandro in 1999. In summer 2001 he sang at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival the role of Flavio in Bellini’s Norma under the baton of Lawrence Foster. 2002 followed with Remendado from Georges Bizet’s Carmen under Christoph Eschenbach. For the season 2002-2003 Stephan Zelck is member of the ensemble of the Theater Erfurt. |
