The German tenor, Michael Zabanoff, studied singing in Berlin. He first sang bass in the male quartet "Die Evergreeners" with the repertoire "Commedian Harmonists." After changing to tenor, he studied singing with Professor Renate Faltin at the Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler" in Berlin (1993-1999), where he also served his apprenticeship as a graduate teacher for singing. This was followed by private vocal studies with Friedrich-Wilhelm Nahr.
Michael Zabanoff is now working as a freelance soloist both on stage, as well as on the concert stage. Since 1997 he regularly participates at the opera workshop Neustrelitz, where he had his first engagement with the Landestheater Mecklenburg. Further engagements led him to the Schloßparktheater and the Schauspielhaus in Berlin, as well as to the Stadttheater St. Pölten in Austria.
Michael Zabanoff has sung, among other things, as Don Basilio in Marriage of Figaro and Conte Belfiore in La Finta Giardinera by W.A. Mozart. With his high standard quality of performance, he as worked, inter alia, with the director and actor Heribert Sasse, and could be heard in different operetta roles, such as Oberst Ollendorf in C. Millöcker's Bettelstudent or Edwin in Csárdásfürstin by E. Kálmán, as well as Hans in C. Cuis children's opera Der gestiefelte Kater.
Besides his stage performance, Michael Zabanoff is equally devoted to concert singing. So he has already given Lieder recital in Berlin and is regarded as a sought-after partner in a growing number of Berlin concert choirs with which he always returns to the major concert halls of the city. In this field, he has a large repertoire, from the Evangelist part in J.S. Bach's Passions to the Schwan in C. Orff's Carmina Burana. |
