The Australian mezzo-soprano and music/languages teacher, Emma Woehle, obtained her Bachelor of Music in Music from University of Adelaide (1991-1993); Graduate Diploma in Education in Music from University of Adelaide (1994-1995); her Diploma in Opera Studies in Music from Australian Opera Studio (2001-2003); Master of Education - MEd in International Baccaleaureate from Flinders University (2019-2020); and her Graduate Certificate in Catholic Education from University of South Australia (2012-2017).
Emma Woehle has been Freelance Opera Singer since Junune 2008. She has extensive experience as an opera and concert performer. She has graced the stage not only in Australia but also in the UK, Germany (she was employed as Opera Singer at Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden Germany: May 2004-Februar 2006; Director of Music at Rhein Main International Montessori School Germany: August 2007-June 2008), Sweden, China and Japan. Her expansive career of over 25 years has been filled with various roles including the title role of Tancredi in the Australian premiere of the Rossini opera to critical acclaim with the Australian Opera Studio. She has also performed internationally as Hänsel in Engelbert Humperdinck's Hänsel und Gretel, Suzuki in Madama Butterfly, Cherubino in W.A. Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro, Maddalena in Rigoletto to name a few as well as multiple performances of oratorio as well as concert programs.
Since returning to Australia and raising a family, Emma Woehle has performed predominantly concert works including W.A. Mozart’s Requiem, the Sorceress in Dido and Aeneas, J.S. Bach’s Johannes-Passion (BWV 245), and Maurice Duruflé's Requiem. She is currently also a core member of the world-renowned and award winning Adelaide Chamber Singers. Future performances include Verdi’s Requiem with the Adelaide Youth Orchestra.
In the field of education, Emma Woehle has been Music Teacher at Cardijn College (January 1995-December 1998); Music Teacher at St Peters Collegiate Girls School (January-December 1999); LOTE Teacher/Coordinator (Italian, English) at Cardijn College (July-December 2009); Middle School Specialis (History, Geography and English teacher) at Christian Brothers College in Adelaide (since January 2010); Vice President at Immanuel College Old Scholars Association in Adelaide (since October 2013). |
