The American counter-tenor, Michael Wisdom, graduated from the Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts in 2004. He has dedicated himself to focusing and developing his craft. In 2005, he accepted multiple scholarships to study at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, where he sang as a member of the Chamber Choir. He also sang professionally with the acclaimed Cincinnati Vocal Arts Ensemble. He obtained his Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) in 2009; and his Master oif Music degree in Vocal Performance (Early Music/Oratorio/Concert Performance) from Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut in 2013. In 2008, he had the privilege of meeting and studying with Simon Carrington at the Yale Norfolk Music Festival. He also studied privately with Karen Lykes and David Adams.
Michael Wisdom is quickly becoming recognized as one of the most exciting young talents in vocal music. He has been called upon to perform alto solos in J.S. Bach’s Cantata BWV 172, St. Matthew Passion (BWV 244) and St. John Passion (BWV 245), as well as in George Frideric Handel’s Messiah and Dixit Dominus. He is currently a member of the Bach Collegium Japan (Director: Masaaki Suzuki), and of Bach Collegium San Diego (Director: Ruben Valenzuela). He was soloist with the latter ensemble's concerts of J.S. Bach’s Cantata BWV 4 and G.F. Handel’s Dixit Dominus in September 2013, and J.S. Bach’s Mass in B imnor (BWV 232) in April 2014.
In his spare time, Michael Wisdom enjoys running, swimming, camping, basketball, tennis, and practicing his music. He currentluy lives in Arlington, Texas. |
