The Danish soprano, Anna Maria Antonius Wierød, studied clasical singing with Lars Thodberg Bertelsen at Det Jyske Musikkonservatorium (Danish Royal Academy of Music) in Aarhus/Aalborg (2006-2010), and made her debut in 2013 in the soloist class of Bodil Øland at the same institute (2010-2012). She specialized in early singing and performance practice with Harry van der Kamp at the Hochschule für Künste Bremen (2008-2009) and with Evelyn Tubb and Anthony Rooley at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis (2012-2013). She also attended master-classes and received private training with Emma Kirkby, Cæcilie Nordby, Barbara Bonney, Maria Cristina Kiehr, Jill Feldman, Kirsten Buhl, Anne Margethe Dahl, among others.
Anna Maria Wierød began her career career by touring throughout Europe with the Pantagruel Renaissance Ensemble, with whom she released the "Nymphidia" CD in 2011, which collected a 5-star rating and brought her opinions as "dawn, my light soprano" (Fono Forum), "In in the same league with the great Emma Kirkby. Anna Maria Wierød is part of the international early music environment. As an oratorie, ensemble and concert singer, she often sing in Germany and Denmark, with ensembles like Café Zimmermann, Musica Ficta (2011-2014), Balthasar-Neumann-Chor (Director: Thomas Hengelbrock; since 2011), Århus Domkirke (2008-2013), Det Jyske Vokalensemble (since 2006), Pantagrue (since 2009), La Violetta (since 2012), Ensemble Syd in Malmö, Sweden (since 2012), Sct. Pauls Kirke, Århus (since April 2013), Copenhagen Soloists (Director: Jonathan Ofir), among others.
Anna Maria Wierød is engageed by the DR Koncertkoret (since June 2011) and assists in the DR VokalEnsemblet. She teaches Baroque singing at Aarhus Musikskole (since 2008). She is co-founder and chairperson of the AkadeMidt music society, where as a soloist, idea-maker and producer of e.g. opera in waterparks, concerts in nature, children’s opera etc. she re-conceives the classical concert and creates scenic experiences in evocative surroundings, including "opera in the water park" - a project that performed Purcell's Dido & Aeneas play in Thyregod Badeland and Grenå swimming pool with Anna as project manager, director and singer in the double role Dido & Troldkvinden.
In 2015, Anna Maria Wierød received the prestigious Leonie Sonning Music Grant, a prize that can not be sought, which is given to promising young Scandinavian artists each year. |
