The Swiss mezzo-soprano, Sarah Widmer, started her singing studies in Lucerne with Liliane Zürcher after high school. During this time she was also strongly influenced in the master-classes with Margreet Honig, as well as the Erasmus-Semester in Rostock (Germany) with Carola Höhn. She graduated in summer 2012 in Lucerne with Master in Singing Education and was allowed to teach shortly thereafter as a singing teacher of the Bachelor of acting students at the Hochschule der Künste in Bern. This employment took until 2014. During this time, her private studies began with Werner Güra in Zürich, where she started the Master Performance in 2014 and graduated with honors in the summer of 2016.
Since then Sarah Widmer has been training with Wessela Zlateva in Vienna. She is a member of many professional vocal ensembles, including Larynx Vokalensemble (Director: Jakob Pilgram), Kernchor der Zürcher Sing-Akademie (Director: Florian Helgath), Davos Festival Kammerchor (Director: Andreas Felber), Ensemble Origen (Director: Clau Scherrer), Chor der J.S. Bach-Stiftung St. Gallen (Director: Rudolf Lutz), and others in Switzerland and abroad on the road and also as a soloist. She is most interested in interpreting Lieder, exploring Baroque music and ensemble singing. In addition to classical concert activity, she is also very interested in pop and folk music and chanson. She gained stage experience in opera and operetta in the roles of Mrs. Peachum in Benjamin Britten's Beggar's Opera, Costanza in Haydn's L'isola disabitata, Mirabella in J. Strauss's Der Ziegaunerbaron and 2nd Boy in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte.
Sarah Widmer lives with her family near Bern in a large community and privately teaches students of all ages. |
