William Whitesides (Tenor)

Born: North Carolina, USA

The American tenor, William Whitesides, received his training at Davidson College and the University of North Carolina before entering Juilliard School of Music in New York, where he is a Special Student in the class of Hans Heinz.

William Whitesides was heard in recital, oratorio and opera throughout the Carolinas, in New Orleans and at Aspen, Colorado. In summer 1958, he created the title role in Walter Kaufman's opera Sganarelle for its premiere at the University of British Columbia. He sang with opera companies in the USA and abroad. In october 1966, he gave recital at Carnegie Recital Hall, accompanied by David Garvey. In 1965-1966 he sang the role of The Dancing Master in Ariadne auf Naxos with the San Francisco Opera.

William Whitesides was a member of the music faculty of the University of Louisville since 1964. He later taught voice at the University of the Pacific.
