The German lyric baritone, Roland Waltner, born 1969, studied music and concert singing with Professor Rosemarie Bühler-Fey at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Saarbrücken, and Psychology at the University of the Saarland. He completed his training by attending master-classes and seminars with Cornelius L. Reid, Carla Henius, Roland Hermann, Professor Eugen Rabine and Professor Raimund Gilvan. Already during his studies he participated in several radio and television productions of the Saarländischen Rundfunks and the ZDF. He received in 1998 a scholarship from the Richard-Wagner-Verbands.
Roland Waltner's artistic work covers a very wide range of oratorios and Lieder, as well as musicals, operas and operettas. His busy, professional concert career at home and abroad since 1994, including him as a baritone soloist in C. Orff's Carmina Burana C. 1999 at the arena before the pyramids of Giza near Cairo and on January 1, 2000 at Städtische Spiel- und Festhaus near Worms. As an oratorio soloist, he sang the part of Christ in numerous performances of Johannes-Passion (BWV 245) and Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244) by J.S. Bach in the Saar-Palatinate region and in Deutschen Requiem by Johannes Brahms 2001 at the Wetzlar Cathedral. |
