The German baritone and choral conductor, Sebastian Voges, studied church music at the Folkwang-Hochschule in Essen and finished with top honours. Choral conducting he studied with Helmut Kahlhöfer in Barmen-Gemarke, with Herbert Schernus, the choir director of the WDR-Rundfunkchores, and with Martin Schmidt, Professor of choral conducting in Essen, now in Karlsruhe.
Since 1986, Sebastian Voges serves as Kantor at the Lutherkirche in Düsseldorf. He has specialised for many years to work with vocal groups, including the Kammerchor "ensemble provocale" since 1983. Since 1996 he also directs the Neue Chor der Stadt Bochum as successor to Martin Schmidt.
In addition, Sebastian Voges completed his education with singing studies with Hartmut Singer, and participated in master-classes for singing with Kurt Widmer. In recent years he has emerged as a soloist, including with his own recitals. |
