Enrico Viccardi (Organ)

Born: 1961 - Maleo, Lodi, Italy

The Italian organist, Enrico Viccardi, received his diploma in Organ and Organ Composition with first-class standing from the Conservatoire in Piacenza, studying under Giuseppina Perotti. He then perfected his skills with Michael Radulescu at the Hochschule für Musik in Vienna. He has also attended numerous specialization courses with qualified teachers, especially those held by L.F. Tagliavini at the Italian Music Academy for organ in Pistoia.

Enrico Viccardi's concert performances have taken him to numerous important cities in Italy and abroad. He has a special interest in using and promoting the use of the rich patrimony of historical instruments, and has performed for prestigious music festivals and associations, such as Musica e Poesia at San Maurizio in Milan, Feste Organistiche di Venezia, Accademia di Pistoia (at Colorno), Cathedral of Cremona, Festival Internazionale di Trento, Settimana Organistica Internazionale di Piacenza, Primo Festival Organistico della Città di Bolzano, Festival Internacional de las Asturias, Real Academia di Bellas Artes de Granada, Città del Vaticano, Malmö, Uttum.

Enrico Viccardi has recorded Italian baroque compositions on the historical Rejna organ in Monte Carasso for Radio Svizzera Italiana (R.S.I.), Vanitas, the Sonatori della Gioiosa Marca, La Camerata del Titano (as a continuo player for the recording of the opera Memet by G. Sammartini). He has recorded a CD dedicated to the music of Petrali on the Riccardi organ in Casalpusterlengo for the "Bottega Discantica" label and, recently, a CD on the new organ by Daniele Giani at the Basilica S. Antonino in Piacenza.

Very keen on the study of the history of organ building, Enrico Viccardi assisted in the census of historical instruments in the provinces of Cremona and Piacenza. He is also the author of the monograph on the historical Riccardi organ (1859) in Fombio. He has held specialization courses in Italy, Kazakhstan, Sweden, Germany and Spain. He teaches organ at the Marc'Antonio Ingegneri association in Cremona and at the Istituto San Cristoforo in Piacenza. He is also president of the music association Accademia Maestro Raro in Casalpusterlengo, Lodi, and teaches Organ and Organ Composition at the Conservatoire of Como (Italy).
