The Twaianese pianist, Chia-hui Tsai (Chinese: 蔡佳憓), has shown extraordinary musical talent since he was a child. She published her personal piano composition at the age of 8. During her studies in Taiwan, she studied under Professors such as Lin Shuzhen, Gao Guoxiang, Chen Tinghui and Yang Ruiser. In 1989, she was admitted to the National Normal University in Taipei. She then studied at the Freiburg National Academy of Music in Germany and obtained her Atist Dilpoma with the highest grades (1993). She studied under Tibor Hazay and Andreas Immer and studied the German-Austrian School of Music. In 1993, she became the only pianist who was selected to enter the German National Trossingen Academy of Music to study for the highest Performer Diploma (1996). She also studied under the heavyweight Russian master Boris Lvov.
After obtaining the diploma in 1996, Chia-hui Tsai returned to her homeland to teach and became a soloist respected by all. After becoming a chamber music performer, she went to the USA again to obtain her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance from the School of Music, University of Cincinnati (2003). Her dissertation was "Sonata Form Innovations in Prokofiev's Nine Piano Sonatas". She was selected as a new star in the music scene of the National Concert Hall and the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra. She held many recitals and performed at the Presidential Palace Concert and the National Concert Hall. In 2004, she released her personal piano album "Chopin's Diary", which was on the Eslite Bookstore's 2005 TOP100 bestseller list. In 2011, she released her second solo album "Bach-Goldberg Variations".
Chia-hui Tsai, who is currently a full-time Associate Professor at the Music Department of National Taipei University of the Arts, combines the profound heritage of German, Austrian, American, and Russian schools of music, making her a rare and capable pianist. She has been invited to perform on the same stage with well-known international performers many times, and has been invited to perform in the Czech Republic, Japan, the USA, Canada and other countries.
Currently based in Taipei, Taiwan, Chia-hui Tsai combines her active music career with other activities, based on combination of diverse psycho-physical educational background: Alexander Technique, Feldenkrais Method, Tai-chi Taichi, Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy. She obtained her Bachelor of Sociology degree with excellent grades from the National Normal University in Taipei (2001). She studied at Taipei National University of Nursing and Health Science, majored in Counseling Psychology (2013-2015). She has also Alexander Technique Professional Teacher Certification; and Professional teacher certification for the Feldenkrais Method. |
