The Danish soprano, Sophie Thing-Simonsen, graduated from the Kongelige Danske Musikkonservatorium in 2009 and was then admitted to the soloist class with Marianne Rørholm as a teacher. She was also taught by Helene Gjerris and Douglas Yates. She has participated in master-classes with Cecilia Bartoli, Helmut Deutsch, Bo Boje Skovhus, Josef Protschka, Audrey Heyland, Kirsten Buhl Moller and Michael Eliasen.
Sophie Thing-Simonsen regularly participates in the Kongelige Danske Operakor, DR Koncertkoret, Teater Hedelands Operakor and more, and is a permanent member of Mogens Dahls Kammerkor. She is also a member of Copenhagen Soloists (Director: Jonathan Ofir). In addition, she has been a soloist with various Danish orchestras in works as Dvorak's D major Mass, Haydn's Theresienmesse, Niels Wilhelm Gade's Elverskud, Maurice Duruflé's Requiem, and many more. From 1997 to 2000 she had numerous main roles in semi-professional operetta productions, including Valencienne in The Merry Widow, Périchole in Périchole, Otilie in Summer in Tyrol and Irene in Meet Me at Cassiopeia. She currently lives in Copenhagen, Denmark. |
