The English bass, Philip Tebb, studied at Queens College in Taunton, Somerset (Class of 1996). He studied music at Durham University, where he was a Choral Scholar at the Cathedral, graduating in 2009 with Bachelor of Arts degree (with honours). He continued his studies at the Royal College of Music (RCM) in London graduating in 2007 with Singer Diploma; and at the Royal College of Music's Benjamin Britten International Opera School with Russell Smythe, graduating in 2009 with Artist Diploma in Opera. His studies at RCM were generously supported by the Anne Clayton Award, Stanley Picker Trust Award, the Audrey Sacher Award and the Josephine Baker Trust.
Roles at RCM included: Demetrius in Benjamin Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream; Harasta in Janacek's The Cunning Little Vixen; Nicandro in George Frideric Handel's Atalanta (as part of the London Handel Festival); Father Trulove in Igor Stravinsky's The Rake's Progress and Antonio in W.A. Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro. Professional stage work includes covering the role of Peter Quince in B. Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream for Garsington Opera, singing the role of Schaunard in Puccini's La Boheme for Wedmore Opera and appearing in a production of Webster's The Duchess of Malfi at the Royal Theatre, Northampton.
Philip Tebb is in great demand as an oratorio soloist. Appearances last year (2013?) included: Johannes Brahms' Ein Deutches Requiem with Claygate Choral Society; Gabriel Fauré's Requiem and G.F. Handel's Dettingen Te Deum with the Belmont Ensemble; G.F. Handel's Messiah with the Belmont Ensemble, Bridgwater Choral Society, Lewisham Choral Society and the Schola Cantorum of Tewkesbury Abbey; Felix Mendelssohn's Elijah with Whitstable Choral Society; W.A. Mozart's Coronation Mass with Saffron Walden Choral Society; W.A. Mozart's C Minor Mass with Lewisham Choral Society and Teixeira's Te Deum the English Chamber Choir. |
