The Brazilian harpsichordist, Ana Cecília Tavares, grew up in Brasilia. She studied in Paris with the harpsichordist Huguette Dreyfus, as scholarship holder of the CAPES-MEC, obtaining twice the first prize: Prix d'Excellence and Prix de Virtuosité at the Conservatoire National de Région de Rueil-Malmaison. In Brazil, she was winner of the 6th Prize at Eldorado de Música in São Paulo.
Ana Cecília Tavares recording solo works of of L. Marchand, J.S. Bach and D. Scarlatti, for the Eldorado label. She appeared in concerts with the Moscow Chamber Orchestra, under the baton of Constantin Orbelian and with the orchestra Pro Musica Köln in Germany, under the direction of Johannes Hömberg. She performs regularly in solo recitals in Brasilia, Rio De Janeiro and São Paulo, focusing mainly on the works of Bach for harpsichord. She is dedicated to performing chamber music in various forms, and recorded CD with the Trio Barroco de Brasília, with works of Léclair, Boismortier, George Frideric Handel and J.S. Bach.
Ana Cecília Tavares is professor of harpsichord at the Escola de Música de Brasília. In 1999 she recorded her first CD with works for harpsichord of J.S. Bach and J.J. Froberger in Brasilia and at the Municipal Theater in São Paulo. She participated in a cycle of concertos for two, three and four harpsichords in Rio De Janeiro, as a tribute for the 250 anniversary of J.S. Bach's death. She played with the Tábula ensemble at the Museu de Arte Sacra de Belém do Pará, and participated in the cycle of instrumental Baroque music Per Sonare e Toccare at the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil in Brasilia.
Ana Cecília Tavares played in concerts in Brasilia, at the Festival de Inverno de Pirenópolis and at the Teatro Municipal in São Paulo, where she performed in in duo with the harpsichordist Marcelo Fagerlande. She co-operated with the ensemble Música Antiga da UFF in Rio De Janeiro, with which she paricipated in broadcast for Radio MEC. She recorded programs for the TV Senado, in solo, with orchestra and in duo with the flutist Karla Dias, with whom also she also appeared in Brasilia and São Paulo. In 2004 she appeared at the no Festival de Música Antiga de Juiz de Fora, at the the CCBB de Brasília and gave solo recital in Rio De Janeiro. |
