The German soprano, Katja Stuber, began vocal lessons in Octob er 2004 with Christian Gerhaher at the Academy for Music and Theater in Munich while still studying music and German literature. Four years later, in 2008, she completed her degree with honors. The soprano attended oratorio and Lied classes held by Christoph Hammer, Juliane Banse and Helmut Deutsch. Among her teachers was also Céline Dutilly. Beginning in September 2008, she joined a master-class with Ruth Ziesak in Saarbrücken. She also attended master-classes with Siegfried Jerusalem, András Schiff, Gerd Türk and Barbara Schlick. She has been supported by the Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now foundation since 2007 and was awarded a Deutsche Bühnenverein (German Stage Association) scholarship in summer 2008.
Katja Stuber has appeared as a soloist in concert with various ensembles, including such orchestras as the Münchner Symphoniker, Bach-Collegium München, Stuttgarter Philharmoniker, Concerto Köln, La Banda and Balthasar-Neumann-Ensemble. She has sung under the direction of renowned conductors like Gabriel Feltz, Thomas Hengelbrock, Markus Poschner, Helmuth Rilling and Lothar Zagrosek.
Katja Stuber had her first experience in opera as Carolina in Cimarosa’s Il matrimonio segreto. She has appeared with the Munich Chamber Opera at Schloss Nymphenburg and at the Ekhof Festival in Gotha. At the Prinzregententheater (Bavarian Theatre Academy) she sang the rôle of Bazina in Reinhard Keiser’s Fredegunda. In addition to productions with the Bavarian Theaterakademie August Everding, in which Katja Stuber worked with the Neuen Hofkapelle München and the Münchener Kammerorchester, the soprano gained extensive operatic experience with the Kammeroper München under the direction of Dominik Wilgenbus. As of the 2009-2010 season, she has been a full-time ensemble member of Munich's Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz. |
