The German lyric tenor, Uwe Stickert, started his musical career already at the age of seven with voice- and piano lesson at the Musical Boarding School "Schloß Belvedere“ in Weimar. He graduated from Music Universitiy "Franz Liszt“ in Weimar with Professor Mario Hoff with distinction.
Uwe Stickert has appeared on stages such as Komische Oper Berlin, Aalto-Theater Essen, Städtische Bühnen Heidelberg, Nationaltheater Weimar, Nationaltheater Mannheim or Theater Bielefeld. There he was heard as:Jupiter in George Frideric Handel’s Semele; Arnold in Guillaume Tell, Dorvil in La Scala di Seta, Rodrigo in Otello or Almaviva in Barbiere di Siviglia (Rossini); Titus, Tamino, Ferrando, Don Ottavio or Belmonte (Mozart); Ernesto in Don Pasquale (Donizetti); Fadinard in Nino Rota’s Cappello di Paglia di Firenze.
Projects in 2010-2011: Messiah at the Erfurt Dom, Alcina and Nicolai’s Die Rückkehr des Verbannten at Theatre Chemnitz. 2011: Tamino in Die Zauberflöte at the Erfurt Dom. 2012: Arnold in Guillaume Tell, at Staatsoper Nürnberg, Der Trank der Unsterblichkeit by E.T.A. Hoffmann at Theater Erfurt. 2013: Belmonte in Abduction from the Serail at Stattheater Bern (Switzerland).
Uwe Stickert is as well an asked-for specialist within the concert repertoire, with J.S. Bach’s Passions he toured already to Israel, China, Itlaly, Switzerland and France.
Until now Uwe Stickert has worked with reknowned conductors such as Daniel Barenboim, Helmuth Rilling, Jac van Steen, Carl St.Clair, George Alexander Albrecht or Christopher Hogwood. He sang with Carl St. Clair L.v. Beethoven’s 9th Symphony in Weimar in April 2009.
His recordings include the world premiere recording of Otto Nicolai’s Il Proscritto (2011) and Countess Anna Amalia’s Erwin and Elmire by a libretto of Goethe (DS 2007). (April 2012). |
