Tatiana Sterling (Soprano)

Born: March 12, 1942 - Moscow, Russia

The Russian soprano, Tatiana [Tatyana] Sterling (Russian: Татьяна Стерлинг), completed the piano course at the the Leningrad Music School (1959-1963). After finishing her studies, she worked at the pedagogical school of music in Kalinin as a teacher and an accompanist. In 1965, she entered the Moscow Gnesins Pedagogical Institute of Music to study under the guidance of assistant professor A. Maliuta, where she graduated in 1972.

Tatiana Sterling was a third-year student when she was invited to join the company of the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra. At once she was entrusted with a number of most difficult parts in Requiems by Verdi and W.A. Mozart, and L.v. Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 and Missa Solemnis. Then she included in her repertoire Gliere's Concerto for Voice and Orchestra and waltzes by J. Strauss. She gave many recitals: she has toured Leningard, Riga, Vilnius, Kiev, Siberian, an Far-Eastern cities. She also recorded a recital of coloratura arias from operas by W.A. Mozart, Bellini, and Verdi for Melodiya in 1985.
