The German tenor and church musician, Klaus [Claus] Stemann, was in Sonderburg / North Schleswig; and grew up in Flensburg. He finished the Gymnasium in 1931. He studied church music in Leipzig and Berlin. In 1935 he passed the A exam as church musician at the Staatlichen Akademie für Kirchen- und Schulmusik in Berlin. He studied singing in Berlin and Stuttgart.
From 1938 to 1955 Klaus Stemann worked as a concert singer (tenor), including the time of World War II, when most men had to be soldiers. From 1955 to 1976 he served as Kantor at St. Peter-Paul in Hermannsburg. He composed music for worship use, including a work for "Posaunenchor"= trumpet and trombone choir in church. |
