St Salvator's Chapel Choir (Choir)

Founded: 1410 - St Andrews, Scotland, UK

St Salvator’s Chapel Choir is the flagship choir of the University of St Andrews, Scotland. The choir’s history extends to the founding of the University in the early fifteenth century. Today, the choir’s thirty students perform a repertoire that spans the six centuries of the University’s existence. In addition to chapel services, the choir enjoys a busy schedule of concerts, tours, broadcasts on radio and TV, and CD recordings. The choir has given many world premieres, and has worked with musicians such as Sir John Eliot Gardiner, James MacMillan, Paul Mealor, and Arvo Pärt.

Choristi Sanctiandree is an elite group, made up of the finest choral singers in the University. Specialising in early music, it performs several concerts and evensongs per semester, under the direction of Tom Wilkinson. The group regularly performs alongside professional early music groups such as the Silbermann Ensemble.

The St Salvator’s Singers exists to sing evensong in St Salvator’s Chapel, which it does approximately five times per semester. By bringing singers from the University staff and local community together with the choral scholars of St Salvator’s Chapel Choir, the group comprises many of the best singers in the St Andrews area.
