The German organist and harpsichordist, Ruth Spitzenberger, studied after high school at the Musikhochschule München music education (LAG), organ (with Professor Franz Lehrndorfer) and church music (A-exam), and graduated in 1990 with a master-class diploma. She stufied the harpsichord at the Hochschule "Mozarteum" in Salzburg with Professor Kenneth Gilbert, also finished with "distinction". Master-classes with Piet Kee and Daniel Roth round out her education. In 1993 she received the Culture Award of the district of Passau and in 1995 the "Hans-Joachim Erhard Memorial Award" for harpsichord.
Besides her work as a church musician and music teacher, Ruth Spitzenberger performs regularly as soloist and chamber musician in Germany and abroad. From 1998 to 2003 she worked as a lecturer at the Musikhochschule Lübeck.
As a harpsichordist, she plays as a soloist (solo programs, and soloist in J.S. Bach's harpsichord concertos and 5th Brandenburg Concerto) and in various chamber music ensembles. As a solo organist, she presents colourful programs, her superior ability to display new combinations of sounds from the organ has become her "trademark". She also works in a duo line-ups, e.g. with percussion (Reinhard Toriser / solo timpanist of the Komische Oper in Berlin) and trumpet (Franz Wagnermayer), offering both classical and "crossover" programs. Likewise, long-standing partnership connects her with various singers, e.g. irgit Schönberger, Dorothea Vossmeier, Heinrich Lüneburg
