The Czech sorano, Doubravka Součková, completed her studies at the Brno Conservatory as student of Blanka Morávková in 2015. She performed the role of Yum-Yum in Mikado by Arthur Sullivan in the opera studio, Hana in Zdeněk Fibich's melodrama entitled Christmas Eve and the role of the Bride in Bohuslav Martinů's The Spectre's Bride. She attended master-classes given by Jürgen Hartfiel, Antonio Carangelo and František Drs in Karlovy Vary as well as master-classes given by Adam Plachetka and Kateřina Kněžíková in Liteň. Since 2015 she has been studying voice at the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts (JAMU) in Brno under Helena Kaupová. She has received several awards in many singing competitions (the Singing Competition of Conservatories in Pardubice, the Singing Competition in Olomouc as well as the International Singing Competition of Antonín Dvořák in Karlovy Vary).
During her time at the Chamber Opera of JAMU, Doubravka Součková performed as a Coloratura soprano in Cimarosa's L'impresario in angustie, Queen of the Night in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte and in the title role of Orff's Die Kluge. In the 2017-2018 season, she made her debut at the National Theatre as Jano in Janáček's Jenůfa. Her next roles in Prague are Oscar in Verdi's Un ballo in maschera, First Water Nymph in Dvořák's Rusalka, Mozart's the Queen of the Night in Die Zauberflöte and Zerlina in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni. In 2022, on the occasion of the French-Czech co-production, she performs the role of Morgana in George Frideric Handel's Alcina with the Collegium 1704 under the conductor Václav Luks at the National theatre in Brno. |
