The Canadian pianist, Jane Solose, was born in Niagara Falls of Hungarian-German descent. She is a graduate of the Royal Conservatory of Music, the University of Toronto and the University of Western Ontario in Canada. She received her DMA from the Eastman School of Music, where she was awarded their prestigious Performer's Certificate and was David Burge’s first teaching assistant. She studied with noted teachers David Burge, William Aide, Myrtle Guerrero and Patricia Parr, and also received private piano instruction from Guido Agosti, Damiana Bratuz and Peter Katin. She performed in master-classes and summer festivals for Malcolm Bilson (fortepiano), Leon Fleisher, Grant Johannesen, Adele Marcus, György Sebők, Abbey Simon and Rosalyn Tureck. She is a past winner of the CBC Radio Music National Competition in Canada.
Jane Solose's career as a featured concerto soloist, solo recitalist, chamber musician, duo pianist and master teacher has taken her to Korea, Japan, Austria, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania, Serbia, Russia, Argentina, Canada, and around the USA. She is listed on the distinguished international roster of Steinway Artists. In 2005 she presented solo recitals, lectures and master-classes in South Korea, and performed L.v. Beethoven’s Emperor Concerto with the Gwangu Symphony. She performed solo works by Franz Liszt at the 2005 Great Romantics Festival in Canada and at the American Liszt Society 2006 Festival. The president of the European Piano Teachers Association (EPTA)-Voyvodina invited her to participate in the 2009 and 2010 World Piano Conferences, Serbia. She toured Eastern Europe in 2011, presenting solo recitals and master-classes in Bulgaria and Hungary, and performing at the World Piano Conference in Serbia. In 2016 she judged the Dinu Lipatti International Piano Competition in Bucharest, Romania, where she also presented master-classes. Kansas Public Radio broadcast her recital in the 2017 “Great Spaces” concert series at Grace Cathedral in Topeka. She has performed and presented at College Music Society conferences in Austria, Argentina, Japan and in the USA, at American Liszt Festivals and Alan Walker’s Great Romantics Festival in Canada.
Jane Solose has recorded for Capstone Records, Living Artist Recordings, CBC National Radio, and National Public Radio in the Midwest. Her three solo CD's were released by Capstone Records, Eroica Classical Recordings and Ravello Records. Eroica Classical Recordings released two of her CD’s, “Style Hongrois” and “Variations: Three Centuries of Solo Keyboard Variations”. Capstone Records released "Array", which celebrates works by American composers. She received special commendation at the International Vienna Modern Masters Performers Recording Award Competition. Her articles have been published in the journals 20th Century Music, Clavier and American Music Teacher
Duo Solose, a duo-piano collaboration with her sister, Kathleen have performed to enthusiastic ovations. In 2008 they were invited to perform in St. Petersburg, Russia at the Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory and at Sheremetev Palace. In 2003 they toured Hungary, presenting concerts, master classes and lectures at universities and conservatories throughout the country. The sisters have premiered works at new music festivals in the U.S. and Canada, including the Now Music Festival in San Rafael, California and the Prairie New Music Festival in Regina, Canada. The sisters have been broadcast nationally on CBC Canada's "Encore", "Chamber Music at Noon", "Ambience" and for National Public Radio in the USA Their CD of duo piano works was released by Eroica Classical Recordings.
Jane Solose is retired as Professor of Piano and Keyboard Coordinator of Chamber Music from the Conservatory of Music and Dance, The University of Missouri-Kansas City, and currently resides in Daytona Beach Shores, Florida. Former students of Dr. Solose have received high honors and awards in competitions, and pursued academic and performing careers. Many currently hold teaching positions at universities and colleges worldwide. |
