The German pianist, Christoph Soldan, studied under Professors Eliza Hansen and Christoph Eschenbach at the Hamburg Musikhochschule.
His break-through to active international concert playing came in a tour with Leonard Bernstein in summer 1989. Of Christoph Soldan, the world- famous director said, "I am impressed by the soulful size of this young musician." Since then, Soldan has played in numerous tours with renowned orchestras across Europe and abroad. A particularly close co-operation binds him to the polish conductor Pawel Przytocki. A tour of piano evenings took place in Mexico and other countries in Central America in October 1997. In August 1998 he debuted in Salzburg and in the Chamber Music Hall of the Berlin Philharmonie, and in May 1999 in the Leipzig Gewandhaus. In March 2000, there were three piano evenings in Japan. So far, there have been radio and television productions with the Hessische Rundfunk, Frankfurt, Deutschlandfunk, SWR, ORF and ZDF. The Bayerische Rundfunk broadcasted his piano evening in the Munich Residenz in October 1998 and his concert in the Bad Brückenau music festival live in May 1999. Radio Bremen braodcasted his recital in Bremen in August 2002. From 1996 to 2006, he played a all the piano piano concertos of W.A. Mozart with the Capella Istropolitana, Südwestdeutsches Kammerorchester Pforzheim and Schlesischen Kammerphilharmonie Kattowitz. The concert series was completed in January 2006 with the piano concertos for 2 and 3 pianos.
Das Pas de Deux für Tanz und Klavier - “Momente eines Lebens“ - he collaborated with his wife, the dancer and choreographer Stefanie Goes. This full-length stage work saw its premiere in May 2000 in Stuttgart. Since 2000, Christoph Soldan works regularly with the writer Peter Hartling, with whom he performs concerts together. In spring 2001 Christoph Soldan participated the Prague Spring Festival accompanied by the Slovakian chamber orchestra Capella Istropolitana. Two recitals in Hamburg and Berlin were followed by a live recording of two W.A. Mozart piano concertos in the medieval monastery of Maulbronn in September 2002. In the 2003-2004 season, he guested with various programmes in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Slovakia, France and the USA. In January 2004 premiere of the new dance piece "Something of men and angels," was followed by a concert tour to South Africa. Since 2007 he is working as a conductor in connection with the performance of the piano concertos of J.S. Bach and W.A. Mozart. In the schedule of 2010-2011 season are piano recitals, concerts & readings, a tour with Johannes Brahms' Piano Quintet, Op 34, Frédéric Chopin's Piano Concerto in E minor, recitals and dance projects.
In 1994, Christoph Soldan founded a chamber music festival in Hohenlohe: Schubertiade auf Schloß Dörzbach. In 2007 he opened with his wife in his own theater at the Dörzbach an der Jagst, in which this concert series continued. |
