The Finnish pianist, Liisa Soinne, is the sister of the pianists Paavo and Pentti Sonne. She Studied privately with Elli Rängman-Björlin and Timo Mikkela. She gave her first concert with orchestra at the age of 10 and presented her first recital in 1951 at the age of 15. She studied at Oberlin Conservatory with Emil Daneberg in the USA from 1957 to 1958, and in Cracow with Jan Hoffman in 1964, 1975 and 1976.
Liisa Soinne performs in recitals, is an orchestral soloist, and a harpsichordist, and plays in concerts with three pianos with her brothers Paavo and Pentti. She is particularly known for her many J.S. Bach evenings, playing all the Well-tempered Clavier, Book I and II (BWV 846-869, BWV 870-893), the Goldberg Variations (BWV 988), and the Art of Fugue (BWV 1080).
Liisa Soinne taught at the Sibelius-Academy, Helsinki, Finland from 1973. Her daughter, Leena Hanhijärvi, is also a pianist. |
