The French oboist, Jérôme Simonpoli, holds several prizes from the Conservatory of his home town, Limoges, and the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris.
Jérôme Simonpoli's orchestral debut led him to perform with the greatest orchestras (Orchester de Paris, Orchestre National de France, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France). He then participated in the foundation of the Ensemble à vent Octopus (Octopus Wind Ensemble), winner of the Martigny International Competition (Switzerland).
In 1991, Jérôme Simonpoli was appointed Principal Oboe of the Cape Town Symphony Orchestra (South Africa), which led him to record many works for the South African Broadcasting Corporation, including Les Folies d'Espagne by Marin-Marais ( With Wessel Beukes and Barry Smith), distinguished by the Artes Awards. Since 1993, he has held the position of First Oboe solo at the Orchester National Bordeaux Aquitaine (ONBA), with which he has performed as a soloist, notably in the symphonies concertantes of W.A. Mozart and Haydn. In 2012, he married Sylvie Vélou Simonpoli and currently he lives in Bordeaux, France.
Jérôme Simonpoli recorded exclusively for Milan records: his discs devoted to German Baroque music with organist Daniel Matrone in 1996 and 2002, and his latest work devoted to the works of Astor Piazzolla with the quartet La Compagnie des Arts. |
