The Brazilian tenor, Giovanni da Silva, began his musical education at the Federal University of Pernambuco and later studied with Professor Josef Protschka at the Hochschule für Musik in Köln, obtaining his Singing Diploma with concert exam (2001-2008). In 2006 he received the DAAD award.
Giovanni da Silva made his European opera debut at the Schlossfestspielen Zwingenberg in 2001 as Beppo / Harlek in Der Bajazzo conducted by Guido Rumstadt. This was followed by further appearances at the Kölner Oper, Kölner Philharmonie, Alten Oper Frankfurt, Beethovenhalle Bonn and others. He is a member of the WDR Rundfunkchor Köln ((Director: Stefan Parkman; since 2005). Most recently, a CD of contemporary music by Lithuanian composers with the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra was released. |
