Isolde Siebert (Soprano)

Born: Switzerland

The Swiss soprano, Isolde Siebert, studied with Albrecht Meyerolbersleben at the Hochschule für Musik in Freiburg, where she finished in 1983 with honour.

From 1982 to 1985 Isolde Siebert was member in the ensemble of the Stadttheater (Municipal Thetatre) Basel. At the Staatstheater Darmstadt and at the Staatstheater Hannover (1987-1990) she was appeared in various roles - of the classic lyric and coloratura (Konstanze, Queen of the Night, Gilda, Sophie, Zerbinetta, et al). In 1986 she made her international break-through with her debut as a Queen of the Night in the Mozart's Zauberflöte at the Bregenz Festival. Since that time she has had an active opera and concert activity through the whole Europe and in South America. ). She has sung in oratorio works from Bach to L.v. Beethoven all the way to Frank Martin.

Today Isolde Siebert is active as a freelance singer. She has devoted considerable time to the performance of contemporary music, including premieres at the Donaueschinger Musiktagen and at the Musik-Biennale in Berlin. Various composers have entrusted her with world premières and first performances of their works, among them Dieter Schnebel, Wolfgang Rihm, Olga Neuwirth and Karlheinz Stockhausen.

On the other hand Isolde Siebert concerns heself with Baroque and classical performance practice. Conductors with whom she has collaborated include Udo Zimmermann and Michael Gielen, along with such early music specialists as Christopher Hogwood, Frieder Bernius, Philippe Herreweghe and Sigiswald Kuijken.

Isolde Siebert appeared at the Salzburg Festival of 2003.
