The American choral conductor and church musician, Mary Sherburne, studied first at the Wittenberg University in Ohio and completed her studies with a Bachelor of Music. In Germany, she continued her studies including with Professor Wilhelm Ehmann and at the Folkwanghochschule in Essen she passed the state exams for church music and organ.
From 1976 to 1980 Mary Sherburne was Kantor vocalist in Köln-Bayenthal. Since 1980, she held this position at the Erlöserkirche in Lüdenscheid, where she founded in 1982 the Lüdenscheider Vokalensemble. Since 1981, she is Kreiskantorin in Lüdenscheid Kirchenkreis and since 2000 Kreiskantorin in Lüdenscheid-Plettenberg. In 1997, she was appointed director of church music (Kirchenmusikdirektorin = KMD).
Mary Sherburne's concert activity as a conductor has led her to work together with artists such as the Hilliard Ensemble, Deutsche Bachsolisten, Hans Peter Blochwitz, Andreas Schmidt and Klaus Mertens. |
