The American choral conductor, Matthew Christopher Shepard, began his musical studies in woodwinds and voice. He holds an undergraduate degree from William Jewell College and two master’s degrees in music from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance. In 2009, he was awarded a fellowship to study at the Conductors Institute at Bard Conservatory with Maestros Harold Farberman and Leon Botstein (Class of 2009).
Matthew Christopher Shepard is founder and Artistic Director of Te Deum Chamber Choir. In addition, he holds positions as Associate Director of Music at Village Presbyterian Church in Prairie Village, Director of Temple Beth Or’s Holy Days Choir in Raleigh, North Carolina, maintains a private voice studio, and has guest conducted college choirs from William Jewell, Benedictine, Baker University and Kansas University, the Trinity Chamber Artists, the Kansas City Civic Orchestra, the Philharmonia of Greater Kansas City, and the Kansas City Baroque Consortium. From 2010 to 2016, he held the position of Music Director for the Atchison-Benedictine College Orchestra. |
