The American flautist and musical director, Julie Scolnik, obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music/ Frenc from Wesleyan University; and her Master iof Music degree in Music Performance, General from New England Conservatory of Music (1985-1987).
Julie Scolnik has enjoyed a diverse musical career as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral flutist. In earlier years, she performed as principal flute with many of Boston's leading orchestras including Emmanuel Music, The Boston Ballet, and Lyric Opera, and toured and recorded in the flute section of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
The 2014-2015 season marks Julie Scolnik's 18th year as artistic director of Mistral Music, a chamber series which presents world-class artists in intimate settings. She has been a guest flutist at music festivals throughout the USA and France and has collaborated with international ensembles such as the Borromeo, Brentano, Chiara and Lydian String Quartets. She is a frequent featured guest on Boston's WGBH radio, having made over three dozen radio appearances.
Julie Scolnik is very committed to her students and has an uncanny knack for finding immediate solutions to their technical and tonal challenges. She develops very close relationships her students cares about their musical journeys. She lives in Brookline, a 25-30 ' minute T or bus ride away. But it may be possible to teach at Harvard dorm residence if easier. |
