The Swiss mezzo-soprano, Magali Schwartz, studied at the conservatories of Fribourg and Lausanne pupil of Juliette Bise. In 1972 she was a prize-winner at the International Singing Competition in Geneva. She supplemented her training by studies with Huguette Tourangeau and in from 1974 to 1976 with Winifred Radford in London.
As an opera singer Magali Schwartz appeared as a guest at the Grand Théâtre Geneva, in Lausanne, Paris and at the Berlioz Festival in Lyon. She performed roles like Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro, Dorabella in Così fan tutte, Dido in Dido and Aeneas by Purcell, Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Angelina in Rossini’s La Cenerentola, Octavian in Rosenkavalier, the Female Chorus in The Rape of Lucretia by Benjamin Britten and Eurydice in Antigone by Arthur Honegger.
In the concert range Magali Schwartz had an international career both as oratorio and Lieder singer, with appearances in Zürich, Basel, Berne and Fribourg, in Paris, Geneva and Lausanne, in Milan, Lisbon, Bologna, Buenos Aires and Lima.
