The German contralto, Dorothea Schröder, studied from 1917-1921 at the Conservatory of Leipzig with the teacher Hjalmar Arlberg. She was introduced to the music theory by Stephan Krehl.
Since 1921 Dorothea Schröder undertook expanded concert tours. A big England tour in 1925 became particularly successful. She appeared in the Leipzig's Gewandhaus concerts and in many concerts in Germany and abroad. At the Salzburg Festival she sang in 1933 as soloist in the Krönungsmesse and Vesperae solennes de Confessore by Mozart. In addition she worked in Leipzig as a teacher. |
