The German baritone, Dirk Schortemeier, studied music and theater studies as well as singing. He won prizes at international singing competitions.
Dirk Schortemeier gave concerts at home and abroad, and particpated in audio, radio and television recordings. He worked ten years in the theater as a playwright and director of incidental music, including in Cologne, Braunschweig, Göttingen Münster, Berlin and Hamburg, etc. At Thalia Theater he commenced major author activity. In 1974, he was accepted to the Westdeutschen Rundfunk Köln as an editor, producer and presenter. He was a longtime manager of the WDR Sinfonieorchester Köln; from 1998 to 2007 also deputy head of the orchestra and choir department. He won various recording awards. Since 2007 he was a lecturer at the Universität Bremen and the Musikhochschule Detmold. He wrote several books and booklets, gave lectures and presentations, participated in festivals, and prepared programmes, such as for EuropaChorAkademie. |
