The German tenor, Bernhard Schneider, studied at the Musikhochschule Köln with Professor Hans Sotin and completed the maturity examination with honour. Subsequently, he passed also his concert exam.
Bernhard Schneider received his first engagement in 1991 at the Opernstudio of the Deutschen Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf-Duisburg. Afterwards he worked for three years at the Städtischen Bühnen Krefeld-Mönchengladbach. In 1995 he was engaged as lyric tenor by the Schillertheater Gelsenkirchen-Wuppertal. Since 1998-1999 season he is permanent ensemble member of the Staatsoper Stuttgart, where he has performed roles as: Alfred (Die Fledermaus), Andres (Wozzeck), Truffaldino (Die Liebe zu den drei Orangen), Algerier (Intolleranza) or Don Velasco (Masaniello furioso).
Guest engagements led Bernhard Schneider to Bremen and since 1996 regularly to Bayreuth, and encouraged him developing his extensive concert repertoire, which includes works of the Baroque as well as the Modern times.
Bernhard Schneider has participated in numerous CD and broadcast recordings for the HR, BR and SWR and presented him in romantic oratorios of Carl Loewe and Albert Lortzing as well as various operettas by Heinrich Berté, Jacques Offenbach and Joseph Lanner. A co-operation of many years connects him with various Festivals with the Ensemble Sequentia as well as the Frankfurt Vokalsolisten. |
