The American mezzo-soprano and music pedagogue, Amy Schneider, obtained her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire; her Master of Music degree from The Cleveland Institute of Music. She holds the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Boston University. She has studied Robert Schumann song cycles with Graham Johnson at the Britten-Pears Institute for Advanced Musical Studies.
Amy Schneider performed in Boston as a soloist with new music and Baroque ensembles, including Emmanuel Music, Boston Baroque, Boston Musica Viva, and ALEA III. Her recent performances include Bach cantatas and Passion According to St. John (BWV 245), George Frideric Handel's Judas Maccabeus, Antonio Vivaldi's Gloria, and the Mozart Mass in C minor. In addition, she appeared with the Boston Symphony Orchestra in performances of Kaija Saariaho's Château de lâme. She has performed a wide variety of chamber music repertoire with ensembles around New York and New England. In January 2008, She performed at the Stanford University with the pianist Laura Dahl works of G.F. Handel, R. Schumann, Francis Poulenc, and Rodrigo, as well as the world premiere of Daniel Felsenfeld's The Poet's Dream of Herself as a Young Girl with violinist Livia Sohn and cellist Thalia Moore.
Amy Schneider served on the faculty at Boston University, where she was interim coordinator of the voice department. In 2003, she joined the music faculty at North Dakota State University (NSDU). |
