The German baritone, Franz Schlecht, began his singing studies at the Bayerischen Singakademie. He studied at the Musikhochschule in Augsburg in the classes of Jan Hammar, James Taylor and Hans-Joachim Beyer, and received his diploma from the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Leipzig. He continued his studies as a singer at the Musikhochschule Würzburg in the master-class of Professor Leandra Overmann.
From the beginning his training Franz Schlecht was on the opera stage. He sang in the first year, the role of the speaker in the Zauberflöte by W.A. Mozart. This was followed by Figaro and Count Almaviva in Die Hochzeit des Figaro by W.A. Mozart, Axur in Axur by A. Salieri, Dr. Falke in Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss and Rossini roles Haly in L'Italiana in Algeri (Stadttheater Augsburg) and Dandini in La Cenerentola (International Opera Course Jeunesse Musicales/Weikersheim). In the 2009-2010 season, he can be heard as Christiano in Un Ballo in Maschera by G. Verdi at the Mainfrankentheater Würzburg.
Franz Schlecht has sung sacred works of George Frideric Handel (The Messiah, Dettingen Te Deum), J.S. Bach (Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244), Johannes-Passion (BWV 245), Mass in B minor (BWV 232), cantatas), W.A. Mozart (Requiem, Mass in C minor), G. Puccini (Messa di Glora, Motteto a San Paulino) and Ein Deutsches Requiem by Johannes Brahms. Most recently he was heard with the Mass in F minor by Bruckner at the Munich's
Prinzregententheater. |
