The Russian pianist, Daniil Sayamov, was born to a family of musicians. At the age of 15, he graduated from the Music School of the Rostov-on-Don State Rachmaninoff Conservatoire (class of Sergei Osipenko, student of Lev Oborin) and entered the Conservatoire itself. A year later, in 2000, he won the International Rachmaninoff Competition of Young Pianists in Tambov, made his debut recital in Lugano, Switzerland, and received an invitation to study at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatoire from Vera Gosnostayeva. He studied there from 2000 to 2005 with Professor Vera Gornostaeva, who also supervised his piano performance postgraduate program (2005-2008). From 2000 to 2005, while he was studying at the Conservatoire, he was a multiple recipient of the Sviatoslav Richter Grant, which was provided by Mstislav Rostropovich Foundation. After completing his post-graduate studies, he continued his studies at the London Royal College of Music under Dmitri Alexeev (2009-2011). He earned his Master of Performance Degree with distinction at the College in 2011. In 2014, he began teaching at the Moscow Conservatoire as Vera Gornostayeva’s assistant. He continued to work with her students after the great pianist’s death.
During these years Daniil Sayamov became a laureate and prize-winner of international piano competitions, including the International Rubinstein Piano Competition (Russia, Moscow, 2001), Valsesia Musica Competition in Varallo Sesia (Italy, 2003), International Competition for Piano and Orchestra Città di Cantù (Italy, 2003), Estonian International Piano Competition (Tallinn, 2006), Hilton Head International Piano Competition (USA, 2006), Rachmaninoff International Piano Competition (Russia, Moscow, 2008), and Scottish International Piano Competition (Glasgow, UK, 2010), and other contests.
Daniil Sayamov intensely performs in Russia, and has toured in the USA, the UK, Canada, Israel, Germany, Japan, South Korea, Austria, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, Estonia, Latvia, Ukraine and Azerbaijan, ia, and Ukraine with solo programs and under a number of distinguished conductors including Eri Klas and Estonian Chamber Orchestra, Valery Polyansky and State Symphony Capella of Russia, also with Vladimir Verbitsky, Mary Woodmansee Green, Juri Alperten, and many others in Russia and abroad. He has taken part in such festivals as the Ars Longa Festival in Moscow and Stars at the Rhine Festival in Basel, as well as the annual music festival Vera’s Baton in memory of Vera Gornostayeva. The pianist’s recordings are streamed on NPO Radio 4 (the Netherlands) and Celtic Music Radio UK.
Daniil Sayamov teaches at Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatoire since 2019. He married Tatiana Titova on September 9, 2009 and currently lives in Moscow, Russia. |
