The French Canadian soprano and flautist, Dominique Saulnier, comes from a musical family, whre she was trained from an early age in flute and piano, and is a graduate of the vocal programme of the Centre d’excellence Artistique de l’Ontario at De La Salle high school, where she studied with Renée Lapointe and Robert Filion. She moved to the East Coast in 2014, where she pursued her studies, worked with acclaimed Canadian composer Paul Halley. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of King’s College; and her Bachelor of Music degree in Voice from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where she studied with with soprano Betty Allison. She served as choral scholar with the King’s College Chapel Choir and as Lay Clerk at All Saints Cathedral during her studies. She also became Assistant Director of the Capella Regalis Men and Boys choir, as well as Interim Organist and Music Director at the parish of Christ Church, Dartmouth.
In 2019, Dominique Saulnier made her debut singing with Daniel Taylor's Theatre of Early Music. She has sung professionally with other ensembles such as the Ottawa Bach Choir, Aureas Voces, and Caelis Academy Ensemble, with whom she appears frequently as a soloist. Her recent solo appearances have included George Frideric Handel’s Messiah and Antonio Vivaldi’s Gloria with Ottawa-based Organist and Conductor, Matthew Larkin. She was also a member of the vocal ensemble The Domino Consort. She is CRMSS International Scholar at CRMSS Ontario 2024, and currently living in York, UK, to pursue a Master’s in Solo Voice Ensemble Singing. |
