The Canadian baritone, Geoffroy Salvas, has nurtured his love for music since childhood through studying piano and cello. He has been recognized as First Prize winner of the Concours International de Chant de Marseille 2017 in the Operetta category and as New England Finalist of the Metropolitan Opera National Council 2019. He honed his singing skills at with Gabrielle Lavigne and Aline Kutan at the Conservatoire de Musique de Montréal (Certificat en droit: 2021; Certificat - Relations industrielles: 2021-2023) before joining the Atelier Lyrique at the Opera of Montreal for 2 seasons.
In 2019, he made his debut at Opera de Toulon (France) in the role of Mathieu in Andrea Chénier. His performed repertoire includes Valentin in Charles Gounod's Faust, Don Giovanni in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni, Morales in Georges Bizet's Carmen, Mercutio in C. Gounod's Roméo et Juliette, Nero in Nero and the fall of Lehman Brothers, Le Vice-Roi in La Périchole, Frank in Fledermaus, Johannes Brahms' Ein deutsches Requiem, Gabriel Fauré's Requiem, Orff's Carmina Burana, George Frideric Handel's Messiah, J.S. Bach's Matthäus-Passion BWV 244, Johannes-Passion BWV 245 & many cantatas, F. Schubert's Winterreise.
His numerous collaborations with prestigious ensembles such as the Opéra de Montréal, the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, the Opéra de Québec, and Pacific Opera Victoria have allowed him to gain extensive stage experience over the years. Geoffroy Salvas has notably worked under the direction of Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Kent Nagano, Rafael Payare, Clelia Cafiero, Mélanie Léonard, Masaaki Suzuki, Paul McCreesh, Jacques Lacombe, Jean-Marie Zeitouni, and Nicolas Ellis.
Highlights among his future and recent engagements include Marcello in La Bohème at Opera Grand Avignon, Germont in La Traviata at the Seine Musicale in Paris, Masetto in Don Giovanni and Bobinet in La vie parisienne for Opéra de Québec, Morales in Carmen at Pacific Opera Victoria and Francis Poulenc’s Le bal masque with Camerata RCO (members of the Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam). |
