The Portuguese guitarist, Pedro Rodrigues, began his musical studies at the age of 5, and at 9 began to study classical guitar under the guidance of J. M. Lopes, at the Leiria’s Conservatory of Arts, where he completed his course of study in 1998 with highest honours and as recipient of the Gulbenkian Scholarship. He continued his studies with Alberto Ponce, at the École Normale de Musique de Paris, receiving here the Diplome Supérieur de Concertiste “a l’unanimité avec felicitations”.
Pedro Rodrigues has participated in the master-classes of such distinguished artists as Leo Brouwer, David Russell, Darko Petrinjak, Joaquin Clerch and Alberto Ponce, and is the winner of more then 20 awards, including the Artists International Award Audtions (New York), Sor Competition (Rome), Masters de la Guitare (Paris), Zinetti Competition (Verona), Torrent (Valencia), RDP Young Musicians (Lisbon) among others.
Pedro Rodrigues held concerts in world-renowned concert halls such as the Carnegie Hall (NY), Salle Cortot (Paris), Ateneo de Madrid, Endler Hall (Cape Town), Gulbenkian Grande Auditório, Centro Cultural de Belém (Lisbon) and Casa da Música (Oporto). He recorded for JNS Music, Numérica and Nuova Venezia recording labels. |
