Rae Robertson (Piano)

Born: November 29, 1893 - Ardersier, Inverness, Scotland, UK
Died: April 17, 1978 - Los Angeles, California, USA

The Scottish pianist, Rae Robinson, began career as solo pianist but formed famous 2 piano duo with his wife Ethel Bartlett. This couple toured extensively in Europe and North and South America as a two-piano duo from 1928 to his death. They also taught at the Matthay School of Music and arranged and published two-piano music. A number of composers wrote two piano music for them; among them Benjamin Britten who wrote 3 works for them. They are credited with beginning the popularity of the piano duo team.
